Istanbul lies in Turkey, at the conjunction of Europe and Asia. Initially known as Constantinople, the ancient city showcases a fusion of nostalgic buildings with a modern lifestyle. The city is surrounded by the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea. Though not a very preferred tourist destination, Istanbul is great for tourists who want to enjoy nature, culture, and nightlife along with adventures. You get all of these at a single place when you visit Istanbul. There is something for everyone at Istanbul.
You get to see the places of worship, museums, ancient architecture, markets, and nightlife. It has an array of mosques and churches that showcase how the culture and architecture progressed in the area. Among the many mosques, the Ahi Celebi Mosque and Blue Mosque are the most famous and should not be missed. Among noticeable churches is the Crimean Church, built in the remembrance of British soldiers who fought the Crimean war. Though there are many museums and archeological centers that showcase the development of the place over years, most people prefer the Adam Mickiewicz Museum which was house to a famous Polish freedom poet. The Istanbul Archaeological Museum contains works of Turkish art and Roman tombs.
If you are in Istanbul, you should also check out the Hippodrome. It was used as a mass water storage tank in Byzantium era. You can also visit the Dolmabahce Palace of the same era. Another important structure not to be missed is the Topkapi Palace that used to serve as the Imperial treasury, Kiosks, Tower of Justice and many more places of interest. While roaming around the monuments and museums observing how time changed the lifestyle of people over ages, you get a shock when evening sets in. Istanbul has a great nightlife with numerous bars, pubs, discos that cater to people all night long.
